God of War is a video game for the PlayStation 2 console which was released on March 22, 2005. The story of God of War is based a little on Greek mythology.
God of War was developed by Sony Computer Entertainment in the Santa Monica division. This game is the first part of the God of War series.
This video game received positive responses from critics and has won many awards, including "Game of the Year" from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.
In 2007, IGN put God of War on the list of the 25 best PS2 video games.
Before the release of God of War III, God of War along with its first sequel was released for PlayStation 3 in North America on November 17, 2009 as part of the God of War Collection.
It was also re-released in Japan on March 18, 2010 and in Europe and Australia in God of War III: Ultimate Trilogy Edition. There has been no official statement regarding the possibility of the release of God of War Collection as an independent product in Europe, except in the United Kingdom.
